A while back, I created a bot to track my daily productivity. When I shared this project, some listeners immediately thought of "toxic productivity" (the idea that the more you work like a robot with little relaxation, the better you’ll perform). I understand that this term has been overused, and different people interpret it in various ways.
For me, personal productivity isn’t about squeezing in as many tasks as possible or comparing myself to an idealized version of relentless efficiency. Instead, it represents a holistic approach to self-development and well-being. Here are some of the activities that define my personal productivity:
- Reading a book
- Walking
- Cycling
- Exercises
- Studying a course
- ...and more
I use apps to help track these activities, not to fill my day with endless tasks, but to observe my progress, stay mindful of my state before and after the day, and ensure that I’m not overdoing it. The goal isn’t to be perfect, but rather to do something beneficial for myself every day.
